Circle K FAQs
What is Class Action?
A class action lawsuit is when a group of people with similar issues join together to file one legal case against a defendant. This method is effective when many individuals are affected by the same problem, making it difficult to file separate lawsuits. By participating, you can combine your efforts and resources with others to seek relief for issues like consumer fraud, defective products, or corporate misconduct.
Do I have to pay?
There is no upfront cost associated with this action. Any compensation to you or the attorneys will be overseen and approved by the Court as part of the class action process.
Do I have to pay anything if the class action loses or doesn’t move forward?
No. You will only pay us out of your compensation at the end of the case.
What do you need from me?
Please complete our questionnaire to determine if you qualify for our class action. If you meet the initial qualifications, our team will contact you for further screening to potentially be a class representative.
What is a “Class Representative” or “Lead Plaintiff”?
The class representative is the person that represents the rest of the people in the class action and works closely with the law firm. The class representative has a lot of extra responsibility compared to a regular class member.
What are examples of the Class Representative’s Responsibilities?
The class representative represents the interests of the class and not just their own interests. The class representative may have to invest significant time in the case, which can last several years. If you become the class representative:
- Your name will appear in the court filings
- You may have to submit evidence or swear to certain facts
- You will need to review documents in this case and actively confer with your attorneys
- You may have your deposition taken
- You may need to attend court hearings and trial
Will Hartley Law represent me?
If you are accepted as a client by Hartley Law and you sign the engagement agreement, we and potential co-counsel will be your attorneys for the class action lawsuit described in the engagement agreement. We will not be your attorneys for any other matters unless you sign additional engagement agreements for such additional matters.
Why do I have to sign an engagement agreement?
An engagement agreement is a formal agreement between you and your attorneys that outlines the scope of work, fees, and responsibilities of both parties. By signing it, you ensure that everyone is on the same page about the legal services being provided and the terms of the arrangement. It protects both you and your attorneys by establishing clear expectations and minimizing misunderstandings. If you have any questions about the engagement agreement, please feel free to ask us.
How long is the process?
The duration of class actions can vary widely. Generally speaking, class action cases can take years to resolve and it’s impossible to predict how long your case will take. We will keep you updated on the progress of your case.
How might I qualify to take part in this case?
